"Shaun & Suzi's 16th Annual Mardi Gras Ball "
Saturday, Feb 21, 2009
Quick Blurb:
Sixteeen years running, Shaun & Suzi's Annual Mardi Gras Ball is a celebration of both New Orleans' music, and of the Boston rock music scene's diversity and abilities. It is a magnificent evening of debauchery, music, art, and more. Shaun Wolf Wortis and Suzi Lee lead a large band through a night of the irreverent and quirky R. & B. music which exploded out of New Orleans in the 1950's. Local rock luminaries -- come up to join them for a few songs each throughout the night.
Proceeds go to the New Orleans Musicians Clinic

GOOD TIMES DO ROLL
Cambridge, MA - For the fifteenth year running, Shaun & Suzi's Mardi Gras Ball will turn a Boston area club into a New Orleans house party. Shaun Wolf Wortis (Gato Malo, ex-Slide etc.) and Suzi Lee (ex-Slide etc.), lead a sprawling band -- the Vudu Krewe All-Star Mardi Gras Band -- through a high-energy set of old New Orleans rhythm & blues music, jazz-era torch songs, and sing-along "Mardi Gras Indian" romps. Special guests from the local Boston rock roster contribute unforgettable performances with the Krewe as a backing band. Long time attendees of the Mardi Gras Ball events can cite the classic New Orleans party songs, but Wortis and Lee also mine a rich seventy years of Lousiana pop music for obscure nuggets. Indeed, regulars of Shaun & Suzi's Annual Mardi Gras Balls may the only folks outside of the Crescent City to now be thoroughly familiar with Oliver Morgan's "Who Shot the La La," The Lollipops "I Got Loaded" or the Pelicans' "Drunk Drunk Drunk".
